Assisting Eclectus Parrot Rescue
There are many different species right in this country that are being bred and sold for pets. But to avoid having to go in and perform grey rescue or eclectus rescue operations, people should know that before they get a parrot, they should do the research on the bird and how to take care of it properly.
Some Things You Need To Know
No one wants to make an eclectus rescue because of a neglecting owner, so before you decide to buy a know your information on an eclectus parrot. Rescue is not always an option for each and every bird, so you will want make sure to make all the arrangements before you decide to raise a bird of your own.
Most species can live a long time—eighty years for some of the larger species. This means that they will expect to be around you for a long time. Eclectus rescue can come and take the bird if you are no longer able to care for it, but you should not rely on a sanctuary in order to get rid of a pet that you no longer have the desire to take care of.
The cost for a or other type of exotic bird can be significant. You must take it to the proper vet for regular checkups, buy food, toys, and also make sure that you have a roomy cage for him to sleep in. The costs exceed those of a normal pet like a cat or dog because these are exotic pets. They need special care and attention.
An exotic will also want a lot of attention from you. They need mental stimulation and interaction daily. This will help them behave well. If you take the time to talk and interact with your each day, they will stay healthy and happy. Parrots do have the ability to mimic speech, but no one can promise you that they will. Mimicking you is not a reason to buy a parrot—in fact, some people have turned over their eclectus rescue organizations because they thought they got a defective bird. Most birds will not want to mimic your speech, but they will be very noisy. They consider you part of their group and want to communicate with you.
If you are not fully committed to taking care of a bird like this, then you do not want to get one as a pet. However, if you are interested, you will want to contact your nearest sanctuary and check out your adoption options.
